Through The Eyes Of A Child Stars Take On The Pulborough Mini Marathon
Two young stars from The Anchorage Care Home’s Through the Eyes of a Child programme took to the streets of Pulborough recently, running for a cause close to everyone’s hearts at the home.

Daisy and Freya took part in the St Mary’s School Mini Marathon last Saturday, running to help raise funds for a brand-new sensory room at the local primary school. The Anchorage sponsored the pair, who represented the Through the Eyes of a Child programme with bags of enthusiasm and kindness.

Adding to the day’s special atmosphere was Priya, the newest member of the programme, who came along to cheer the girls on from the sidelines.

For those unfamiliar with the programme, Through the Eyes of a Child was developed in partnership with Daisy Bell and brings children into The Anchorage to spend time with residents, share experiences and offer fresh perspectives that help form life within the home.

It’s a lovely initiative, and moments like Saturday’s marathon show just how far it reaches outside the home.

The day also brought a touching moment for Kate, Community Engagement Manager at The Anchorage. A parent approached her during the event to ask about the programme, mentioning that her two children already visit the home with school and love every minute of it and that they’d love to become stars themselves and join Daisy’s team.

Daisy, reflecting on the day, said:

“This is just amazing. It makes all the work worth it. I am so proud. I really love what we are all doing. It’s really special.”

Sam, Care Manager at The Anchorage, added:

“We are absolutely bursting with pride for our incredible stars. Daisy and Freya’s energy, compassion and commitment to helping others really reflect the spirit of the programme and our wider community.”

It’s been a wonderful reminder of what Through the Eyes of a Child is really about, which is building connections, giving back to the community and showing what this programme is really capable of.

The Anchorage was proud to sponsor the girls and hopes to see many more moments like this one in future.
