A Feel Good Sports Day At The Anchorage Care Home
Residents, families, staff and local guests came together recently for a lively summer Sports Day in the gardens at The Anchorage.

With classic races, team games and plenty of good humour, the day brought everyone together in the best way possible.

Games, Visitors and a Lot of Laughs

The event was led by our Lifestyle Team alongside ‘Daisy from our ‘Through the Eyes of a Child’ programme.’ Activities included sack races, egg-and-spoon challenges and even a tug of war, with everyone getting involved, including visiting firefighters from Billingshurst Fire Station.

Their team brought real energy to the day, pairing up with residents, helping run the games and joining in with plenty of enthusiasm. It was a highlight for many and their friendly interaction left a lasting impression.

Also joining the day was Abbie from Business Bees, a local community group, who popped in with her young son to say hello and meet our residents.

What Our Residents Said

After the games wrapped up, residents took time to relax in the garden with fruit juice, hot dogs and ice cream. Here’s what some of them had to say:

“It was pure joy, watching the children play, sing, and just have fun,” shared one resident. Another remarked, “Thank you, it’s been an absolutely amazing day because of all your hard work.” A third simply added, “Can’t thank you all enough, I’ve had a super day.”

And from Kate, part of The Anchorage team:

“These kinds of days remind us how strong the connection is between our home and the wider community. We’re so grateful to everyone who helped bring it to life.”

Ending on a High

Sports Day was incredibly relaxed, fun and full of small moments that mattered. Residents and families joined in, enjoyed themselves and everybody left with smiles.

Thanks again to everyone who took part and helped make the day what it was.

We’re already looking forward to the next one.
